Dogwoof wags its tail over EFM sales

Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, A Journey, A Song by Dan Geller & Dayna Goldfine

The London-based sales agent has announced European Film Market sales for two titles on its current slate: Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, A Journey, A Song by Dan Geller, Dayna Goldfine and River by Jennifer Peedom.

Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, A Journey, A Song sold to The Jokers (France) and Prokino (Germany & Austria). The film premiered in 2021 in Venice and Telluride and was taken for world by Sony Pictures Classics, excluding these two territories.

Directed and produced by Dan Geller and Dayna Goldfine, and executive produced by Academy Award® winner Morgan Neville together with Jonathan Dana, Michael Drews and Robin Sagonthe, the film is a study of legendary poet and singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen, as seen through the lens of arguably his most famous and certainly most covered work, ‘Hallelujah.’

River, produced by Stranger Than Fiction in association with Arrow Pictures, was acquired by Greenwich (North America), Koch (Italy), Russia Report (CIS and Russia), Kinotext (Germany, theatrical), Filmarti (Turkey), Against Gravity (Poland), and ACFK (Czech Republic and Slovakia). A UK theatrical release is planned for March 18, while Madman will release the film  March 24 in Australia and New Zealand.

River is an exploration of the remarkable, timeless relationship between humanity and rivers. Conceived as more than just a cinema documentary, the project is an orchestral concert film, an ode to the natural word and a retelling of the history of both rivers and human civilisation,” says Dogwoof.

With an original score composed by William Barton, Piers Burbrook de Vere and Richard Tognetti (Australian Chamber Orchestra) the script, written by  Robert Macfarlane, is narrated by actor Willem Dafoe. The film features additional music from William Barton, Jonny Greenwood, and Radiohead.

A collaboration with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, River is a co-production with the Australian broadcaster ABC, the BBC, Dogwoof and Madman Entertainment. The project was commissioned by ABC and BBC Arts.
