Leading industry workshop dok.incubator is open for submissions for its 3-part program running April, June and September 2022 that will offer offers editors, directors, and producers 6 months of intensive editing, distribution support and guidance, as well as marketing strategy planning. Formats open to change depending on current Covid situation, and may be residential, online or hybrid.
The deadline for submissions is January 26 2022.
Over the past 10 years the workshop has helped 12 films to get into Sundance competitions, 30 films were screened at IDFA and 5 were nominated for the European Film Award.
“The workshop participants go from working on the cut to thinking through the complex journey of the film, which they’ve never done before. They’re not only looking at the story, but also at the audience, marketing, and distribution. They go so much further, and when the film is finished, it can successfully make its way through the system,” adds Andrea Prenghyová, the workshop founder and director
The workshop’s core USPs include the opportunity to work with 25 internationally active filmmakers throughout the post-production period; to sharpen the storytelling and find the film’s unique perspective, and to learn to use new marketing tools to target and attract a worldwide audience.
Past projects that have benefited from Dok.incubator support and guidance include, from the 2020 workshop, festival favourites such as Tuija Halttunen’s How to Kill A Cloud (Testimonies winner at Ji.hlava IDFF 2021) and Francesco Montagner’s Brotherhood (Best Czech Doc at Ji.hlava IDFF 2021), and from 2019, Iryna Tsilyk’s The Earth is Blue as an Orange (Sundance – Best Director Award in the World Cinema Documentary Competition) and Radu Ciorniciuc’s Acasa, My Home which won Sundance Best Cinemetography Award in the World Cinema Documentary Competition.
