The deadline for films for the 7th Al Jazeera Balkans Documentary Film Festival has been extended to midnight of June 3 2024, while project submissions for Industry Days (three categories: Main Pitch, Rough Cut, Balkan Stars) can be made up to and including June 15. AJB DOC Film Festival will take place in Sarajevo 13 to 17 September 2024. Industry Days runs September 14-16.
Film submissions for AJB DOC Film Festival can be made through the application form at www.ajbdoc.ba or via the Film Freeway platform.
There is no country-of-origin limitation for producers and authors who wish to submit their film. One of the main criteria is a TV-documentary format with a minimum duration of 22 to 27 minutes and a maximum of 44 to 55 minutes. The official selection of the AJB DOC Film Festival, competition, Last Minute Cinema, AJB Screening and SmartDoc lineup, will be announced at the beginning of September 2024.
The AJB DOC Film Festival will present awards in three categories and all selected films can be considered for an acquisition agreement with the Al Jazeera Balkans and broadcast on its TV Channel.
Extended Deadline for AJD Industry Days
Projects can now be submitted to 15 June 2024 for the event with offers competitive awards across the three categories:
- Main Pitch – accepting all stages of project development and production by independent filmmakers and production companies
- Rough Cut – projects in the post-production stage, intended for broadcasting on Al Jazeera or other international broadcasters and platforms
- Balkan Stars – the development stage of projects and production suitable for regional and international co-production with Al Jazeera Balkans/Al Jazeera Documentary or other broadcasters
The Call for Projects is exclusively for documentary filmmakers from the Southeast Europe, the Caucasus, the Middle East, and North Africa (MENA) region or documentary projects dealing with topics from the aforementioned areas.
