
67 films selected for open-air screening in Skopje (North Macedonia), but discussions, masterclasses and talks online. Also online is the MaceCoProDox Forum, kicking off August 20 in Skopje.
With a motto of “Merge with Silence” the 11th MakeDox Creative Documentary Film Festival runs 19 to 26 August 2020. Sixty-seven films will screen in two open-air cinemas in Skopje as well as online and on-demand.
The festival describes itself as “an onion-scented multi-layered platform, planted by doc-makers and doc-lovers, imbued with the Mediterranean spirit.”
Film selections are divided into six sections and will compete for the following awards:
Main Programme – Onion Award for best film in the main competition
Newcomers – Young Onion Award
Short Dox – Sliced Onion Award for the best short film
Student Dox – Onion Seed Award for best film in the student competition programme
Kids and Youth Programme
Focus Netherlands
Another prize up for grabs is the Moral Approach Award.

The second edition of MakeCoProDox Forum is being held virtually as well, and runs 20-25 August. The first part of the 2020 programme was held 5/6 August.
Moderated by Brigid O’Shea (Documentary Association of Europe & Head of DOK Industry- DOKLeipzig) and Helle Hansen (Film Commissioner Documentary- Norwegian Film Institute, Norway), MakeCoProDox Forum’s main goal is to develop a strategy plan to increase documentary film co-production between the Balkan countries. The Forum welcomes representatives from 12 regional film agencies, 3 Scandinavian film agencies and 10 projects in final stages of production.
