
Sheffield Doc Fest has confirmed the dates for its 32nd edition as 18 – 23 June 2025. The MeetMarket will take place on Thursday 19 June and Friday 20 June 2025.
Right now the Lightning price of £195 + VAT for Industry passes is available through to 16 October, at which point the higher rate of £245 + VAT kicks in, with two further increases before June 2025.
Additionally, the festival is looking to appoint a new Chair of Trustees to take over from Alex Cooke who will be stepping down later this year, after supporting the festival through 5 editions.
“This role is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual with a track record of leadership to support us in our purpose of advancing the art of film, education and training in documentary filmmaking in all its forms,” the festival writes.
“We would welcome applicants with previous experience of charity governance, cultural events, social enterprise, media, independent production, the screen, broadcast, and digital audio/visual industries, community engagement and learning & participation.”
The applications deadline for the role of Chair of Trustees is September 6 2024.
In 2024 Sheffield DocFest presented 48 world, 14 international, 17 European and 28 UK Premieres from 56 countries. The festival saw public attendance increase by more than 20% compared to 2023, organisers confirmed in June 2024. International industry attendance also rose, with 2283 delegates from 73 countries attending the six-day festival in person (up from 60 countries in 2023). 179 Industry representatives from 128 companies and 24 countries took more than 1031 in-person meetings with 49 selected projects and 16 ‘talents’ over the course of the festival market days.
The Grand Jury Award for International Competition was awarded to At the Door of the House Who Will Come Knocking directed by Maja Novaković (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2024). This Award is Academy Award® accredited and honours films that best display strong artistic vision and courageous storytelling.
The Grand Jury Award for First feature Competition was presented to The Boy and the Suit of Lights directed by Inma de Reyes (Scotland, UK, 2024).
