Submissions are open for the East Silver Market 2021, the doc market that supports producers and distributors from Central and Eastern Europe.
Each year, approximately 300 films from more than 29 countries are included in the market. The 18th edition of the East Silver Market will take place during the 25th Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival running October 26-31, 2021.
The focus is on creative documentaries from the region of Central and Eastern Europe, tackling contemporary topics, challenging genre and media boundaries, and welcoming audience participation. “We welcome films that set out to conduct intense and engaged experiences and to change the way we think about topical issues, audiences, ways of storytelling and the world itself,” say market organisers.
Nineteen nominees for the Silver Eye Award 2021 (two categories, short and feature length documentary) will be chosen from the 2021 East Silver Market submissions. The East Silver international jury (comprising of international buyers, sales agents and festival selectors) will award the best documentary films with the awards. Winners are granted prize money of €2,500.
The East Silver Market call is open for completed documentaries produced/co-produced in the region of Central and Eastern Europe. Only films that have not been previously submitted for East Silver Market are eligible.
