64th Krakow Film Festival to open with I Am the Creation of Fiction

I Am the Creation of Fiction by Arkadiusz Bartosiak

Arkadiusz Bartosiak’s portrait of distinguished Polish actor, director, manager and social activist Andrzej Seweryn will open the 64th Krakow Film Festival May 26, as well as compete in the National Competition.

The 2024 Krakow Film Festival will be held in Kraków’s cinemas from 26 May to 2 June and across Poland at the KFF VOD online streaming platform between 31 May and 16 June.

“This is not a biographical film but a dynamic portrait of an eminent European artist captured in motion,” the festival writes. “A man who refuses to rest on his laurels and continually seeks new challenges.”

Director Bartosiak asks: “How do you truly portray an artist who never stops? One who charges through life and through his art with the force of a tornado? I concluded that there is only one effective method – to let oneself be swept away by this force. To throw oneself into the vortex. I hope that’s exactly what our film is.”

‘I have achieved everything I wanted in life,’ says the film’s subject Andrzej Seweryn, as he takes us on a dynamic journey through the series of professional challenges he continues to tackle with youthful enthusiasm.

“This isn’t a biopic that summarises his artistic achievements – hundreds of outstanding film and theatrical roles, political activism, or his long-standing role as the director of the Polish Theatre in Warsaw,” organisers add of the festival opener. “The actor remains at the peak of his career and never slows down for a moment. The camera becomes a companion to his daily activities, allowing us to witness first-hand his emotions and passion for work that emerge in real time.”
